I wanted to let you know what other companies are doing. When I noticed soot at the foot of our chimney, I called a couple of companies to get opinions on what need to be done to fix our chimney. You were first to come, told me what was wrong and gave me your quote. When the other chimney service company came he insisted on doing a cleaning right then or he would charge me $150 for a service call, and said "nobody just goes out and gives a quote anymore."

He was either going to bill me $135 for a service call and do nothing, or I could let him clean it for $269, while your quote was only $135. I was stuck. So, I let him clean it. Then his quote came in. Where you quoted me $1500, which included the cleaning, he said "between $2800 to $3100, in addition to the $269 for the cleaning!
When I called you to tell you not to worry about cleaning it anymore, you were very kind to take $100 off the cost of the job. With my husband out of work and the hospital cancelling a number of my shifts, your gesture means a lot. It would be nice if everyone treated each other fairly-especially in tough economic times.
